Doc Brown Interview - 24th March
Doc Brown interview by Vern Pitt
There was a time, not all that long ago, when ‘Mad World’ was getting daytime radio airplay that it looked like Doc Brown was going to be the next UK rapper to break through into the mainstream. That time was five years ago though.
Doc Brown has been absent from the rap scene for a while now with no declaration of retirement or final album or show. Instead he’s been carving himself a niche in the world of comedy. Vern Pitt caught up with him to see how the new career is going, what his feelings are on UK Hip Hop and just why he left us and his crew, Poisonous Poets, in the first place.

  Sober & Dribbla Interview - 6th June
Sober & Dribbla interview by Safesoul
Sober and Dribbla have been producing and writing Hip Hop for over five years now, creating a unique industrial sound infusing various genres to create something distinctively theirs. The Butchers Ball is their most recent release to date which explores everyday life and the struggles it brings. If you want ‘boom-bap’ Hip Hop then these guys are definitely not for you; expect dark lyrics and even darker beats from Sober and Dribbla.

  Lowkey Interview - 24th March
Lowkey interview by Ali Raymond
Kareem Dennis was 17 when he first silenced us in 2003 on the airwaves from Radio 1. At that moment as he laced those few bars with Doc Brown we were introduced to the formidable talent known as Lowkey. Since then he’s blessed us with a string of goodness ‘Key to the Game’ volumes 1 to 3, and his work as part of the rhyming heavyweights Poisonous Poets. After a hiatus we welcome the return of a spitter of worth and the first UK MC to release an album through the mainstream UK press. ukhh.com gets personal discussing the exciting new ventures of Lowkey including political activism, sharing a stage with indie kids and artistic fulfilment...

  Asaviour Interview - 7th March
Asaviour interview by Ali Raymond
Responsible for blessing us with classics like ‘People Under the Weather’, ‘The Homecoming’ and ‘So Northern’ the soon to be mayor of Huddersfield is back teaming up with old foe DJ IQ on his new album ‘A Loop Theory’. A psychedelic success transporting us to the extreme realms of Hip Hop, the album sees collaborations from friends past and present. And seeing as it’s been longer then a minute since he passed through, UKHH thought it was high time we got personal with the ‘man with the plan’ as he talks left over pizza’s, life away from YNR and 09 being the time to shine...

  777 Interview - 4th March
777 interview by Mr Phlo
777 is an up and coming emcee from Telford, West Midlands. Quietly honing his craft over the last three years and establishing a discography of appearences on various UK releases has aquired him underground recognition as one to watch. Working and performing alongside well known faces has enriched an already inexhaustable lyricist and helped to create the rounded artist we see today. As a former member of The Round Table and Non-Thespian (Dealmaker Records) and current member of newly formed hip hop duo Amass Hegemony with Beit Nun (Innit Records), 777 is a familiar voice across the East and West Midlands. With a solo collection 'Septimal Vol 1' now available Mr Phlo grabbed an intro to the man, his styles, thoughts and influences...

  M9 Interview - 20th February
M9 interview by Ben Bradford
He’s been rapping and emceeing for 10 years already and he’s only 24. But then listening to M9’s deep and thoughtful new album ‘144,000’ where he sounds like he's been around for centuries, the depths of thought are that impressive, there’s a wealth of experience and lyrical depth and skill which pours out of the string laden and soul filled tracks. Given that M9 doesn’t even call this album his official album proper merely a 'project of tracks' then it's intriguing to see what M9 comes up with on his ‘official album proper’ when it drops. In the meantime Ben Bradford brings us up to date with the maker of '144,000' M9...

  Sway Interview - 12th February
Sway interview by Nina Carmela
Making that tricky second album is a well known musical cliche but it is still a rarity in this genre that UK artists maintain a high enough profile for the general public to care about that second album. Always bucking the trend Derek Safo, aka Sway, released his second album proper 'The Signature' late last year and with a clutch of singles, side projects and guest appearances we were due a catch up so Nina spoke to Sway just before the LP release to get the downlow...

  S.A.S. Interview - 31st January
S.A.S. interview by Nina Carmela
Back in 2003 Diplomat Records welcomed Mayhem and Mega to their musical family, and were the first addition to the Dipset Europe movement. S.A.S ‘Streets All Salute’ moved out to New York becoming regulars of battling fellow MC’s which later grabbed the ears of Hip Hop’s finest Kayne West and the Dipset crew, which later led the boys into contracts with Roca-A-Fella/Diplomat Records. To date SAS are currently promoting their latest project, ‘Euro Gang Vol 1’, and although there’s been a media controversy around their current status with Dipset and Juelz Santana, Mayhem and Mega have set their goals and are reaching them. Despite media frenzies and politics with former label peers, SAS take some time out with Nina Carmela and discuss what they’re really about…MUSIC.

Dan Bull Interview - 22nd January
Dan Bull interview by Mr Phlo
If there’s one thing hip hop gets abused for, well beyond all the glorifying violence and homosexual/sexist comments, it’s the lack of real music. The fact so much of it is built on samples of existing music then a few rhymes plonked on the top seems to really irk some musical critics. Better not let them listen to Dan Bull then or they might be forced to change opinions. This 22 year old artist from the West Midlands shuns the formula and creates everything from scratch. This IS music as the purists define it but is it hip hop? Read on, listen and add your own label...

  Prose Interview - 18th January
Prose interview by Ali Raymond
In a scene that has struggled with saturation it’s often hard to get excited about new music, but there is a duo with their dusty beats and infectious lyrics that are set to kick the cack and bring back the foundations on which Hip-Hop was built. With love coming from all areas of the country and a debut album soon to drop, ukhh.com thought it was about time you were introduced to the Boom Bap Professionals, beat-fiend Steady and emcee supreme Efeks so new contributer Ali Raymond got to grips with them...
