Young king of the UK’s deep south, Lazy Eyez, has had a good year. When as a relative newcomer you’ve supported not one but two members of Wu-Tang Clan (on separate occasions… GZA and Ghostface) in the space of a few months, you must be doing something right. New track ‘Aures Uri’ demonstrates Lazy at his best with equally dope features from Green Brick soul maestro Mac Lloyd and El Bizzy of Aristocrats.
We linked Lazy Eyez in Bournemouth for some exclusive bars over a Physiks beat at Family Ink Tattoo Studio. Shouts to the Green Brick Family!

Remember the days when London was the only place to find good UK hip hop? Yeah, it’s safe to say those days are long gone. With the scene diversifying and the internet giving a platform to talent from across the country, one area, in particular, stands out as a hotbed for new rap talent.
To be fair, the South West already has a well-established scene. Thankfully, the debut solo LP from Bristol-based emcee Lazy Eyez only cements the idea that there’s gold out west.
The Bristol-based emcee already has an impressive body of solo work beneath his belt, including his time as one-half of duo Pupils of the Clock with fellow West Country MC Tok (who pops up on second track ‘Cui Bono’). The second physical release on Green Brick Records, Coastline to Cityscape keeps the collab-mentality going with guest features courtesy of fellow Bristol heads and Green Brick co-founders Res One and Badhabitz.
Sporting tight bars and hooks as catchy as VD in a Bangkok massage parlour, Coastline To Cityscape mirrors the artist’s journey from the Cornish coast to cyphers in Bristol. Simultaneously, the album feels like a tribute to never giving up. First single ‘Icarus’ is a homage to the people instrumental in allowing Lazy Eyez to follow his dream. Likewise, ‘Square One’ – with a guest spot from labelmate Mac Lloyd – is a testament to picking yourself up and trying again.
The production, too, is a fitting testament to West Country talent. ‘World Ends’ ft Baby Pink (Prod. Saito) offers a backdrop of laid back beats and smooth harp instrumental to conjure a lush soundscape for Lazy Eyez’ introspective lyricism. Similarly, the smooth jazz piano of ‘Formula 4s’ proves you don’t need a digitally-constructed orchestra to create a sumptuous sound.
It’s albums like this that show how much the UK scene has developed. Sure, it’s an album informed by life in the South West, but that doesn’t make it inaccessible. In fact, it’s the opposite – Coastline To Cityscape filters universal issues through a distinctly local perspective. Coastline To Cityscape proves you can embrace new influences without abandoning your heritage.
Coastline To Cityscape drops February 25th on Green Brick Records.
New Lazy Eyez from his forthcoming debut album Coastline To Cityscape dropping later this month on Green Brick Records. ‘Square One’ features smooth vocals and production from Mac Lloyd and is the third single lifted from the album that is available for pre-order here
Lazy Eyez drops the first single from his forthcoming solo album Coastline to Cityscape which will be released on Green Brick Records next month. The Ed Zilla produced ‘Icarus’ see’s Lazy go back to his hometown to pay homage to the people fundamental to his upbringing. Captured perfectly by This and That Media.
If you’ve been waiting to see Lazy Eyez getting nostalgic by the ocean, wait no longer; this new track, produced by EdZilla, just dropped on Sektion Red. Lazy’s been on a mellow vibe for a while now and the introspectiveness of ‘Sails’ says a lot for the direction this strong up-and-coming artist is heading in.
We linked up with Lazy Eyez and Tok AKA Pupils Of The Clock outside The Res One and Illinformed album launch at The Fleece, Bristol, a couple weeks back. They dropped some fire over a Molotov beat.
NEXT UP is Lazy Eyez, yet another fire MC coming out of the West Country, signed to Green Brick Records. Lazy’s a newcomer to the scene but he’s already got an impressive body of solo work behind him; as well as releases with Pupils of the Clock, the duo comprised of Lazy himself and fellow West Country MC Tok, and collabs with some big names in the scene such as Bristol heads and Green Brick co-founders Res One and Badhabitz.
Own Wave
His most recent release, ‘Own Wave’, is a bit of a departure from Lazy’s usual tip. Introspective, with a softer flow than we’d usually expect from a Lazy release, this track is perfected by a nostalgic instrumental by Badhabitz. The video, just as dreamy as the beat it accompanies, shows Lazy and Res One cruising around the streets of Bristol. This is a pretty mellow one for Lazy but it bangs for sure.
Stay Real – Res One, Lazy Eyez & Badhabitz
Another heavy Green Brick Records release with a dope beat produced by Badhabitz. It’s the first single from a joint project the trio are working on and if this heat is anything to go by it’ll be worth keeping your eyes and ears peeled for future releases.
Proof – Pupils of the Clock
Last but not least is ‘Proof’, taken from Pupils of the Clock’s album Timeless which was released earlier this year. The beat, produced by Yogocop Records resident Wundrop, has us reminiscing to the Golden Era and is met perfectly by the consciousness which is intrinsic to the style Pupils of the Clock have been mastering lately. Lazy’s a fresh face but he’s coming up quick, definitely don’t sleep on this one.
