South West’s UK hip hop trio Free’Minds brought the three minds of Chatta, Jam-C and Riffree together around 2 years ago now, after dropping a debut music video and supporting the likes of Babylon Dead recently, the long awaited album Break The Chains, finally dropped Friday 7 September via GKBeats!
Featuring some dope producers such as Oozhe, James Tsoi, TheFilthyBarKid and Chatta himself, the album bangs from start to finish. All three rappers play to their strengths on each track and they always seem to compliment each others content and abilities blending into some three headed rap demon ready to set fire to the scene.
The project kicks off with ‘Look Lively’ which sets the levels high for all three rappers, this track is one that will grab the attention of hip hop heads with its truly authentic and raw boom bap vibes. Next we drop into ‘Intact With The 3rd’ which has a dope beat produced by TheFilthyBarKid that feels like it’s taken from a secret hard drive from the 90s. Once again each emcee goes in, showing that the title of the track isn’t just a track title, it’s a fact.
The last track mention is also the final track on the album ‘FREEMINDS’, produced by the soon to be legendary UK hip hop producer Oozhe, this track bangs and will have mandem throwing up gun fingers every time its played. The album takes the listener through stages of progression as a musical trio, with the end no where near Free’Minds leave us with a real feel for what each Chatta, Jam C and Riffree have in store for us in the future.
Overall Free’Minds – Break The Chains gets a solid 4/5 rating, with a longer track listing this would of been much closer to a 5. Every track bangs, each rapper is on point with each bar and delivery and the beat selection and producer credits are dope making the 8 tracks leaving you wanting more. You can download/stream the album on BandCamp here, and also all other major digital outlets.
